At 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 19, Les Leopold will give a presentation, What Happened to the American Dream, at the Wilmington ILA Union Hall, 1305 S. Fifth Ave. The public is invited. At 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, Leopold will reprise his presentation at UNCW, with a Q+A session to follow. Imagining a World Without Runaway Inequality

Runaway inequality comes at a steep price. The money that enriches the few is extracted from all that we hold dear: our public life, our incomes, our health, our environment, and the education of children. What would the world look like if we were able to reverse this? How is your vision different from the world we live in today? Make a map or drawing of what your community could be like in a world without runaway inequality and send a photo of it to info@runawayinequality.org . Even better, get together with a few friends and imagine that world together.  

Organizing in Staten Island

Jane LaTour spent some time visiting activists on Staten Island, the most conservative of New York City’s five boroughs, and finds a progressive culture among the union organizers and peace advocates there. The Reversing Runaway Inequality Petition is Live!

For the past few weeks we’ve been testing the wording and delivery methods for the Reversing Runaway Inequality Petition, a program of policy ideas designed to reverse runaway inequality. Now the test is done and we’ve gone live. The petition is going out first to the Runaway Inequality Education Network, and the hope is other groups will support our goals and distribute the petition through their networks. Our goal is to demonstrate that progressive ideas are in the mainstream of American political thought, and in the interests of the vast majority of American people.
