Report: A Runaway Inequality Workship in North Carolina

On Saturday, September 8 the Alliance for Economic Justice co-presented a Reversing Runaway Inequality workshop with the Cape Fear Group of the Sierra Club, the Communication Workers of America, and Cape Fear River Watch. This workshop was in solidarity with the Peoples Climate Movement’s “Rise for Climate, Jobs, and Justice” campaign. As such, we did an additional activity on the impact of RNI on the environment in addition to making Activity 8 focused on how to convert a local environmental issue (Gen-x in the water) into political action during the mid-terms. Here are some photos from the day.

Oregon Needs A State Bank

A Runaway Inequality activist, Tim Cates, sent along an article from his local shopping paper, the Ashland Sneak Preview. In the April 2018 issue, the publisher, Curtis Hayden writes about reading Les Leopold’s book Runaway Inequality. Mr. Hayden does a great job of laying out the problem with wealth and income inequality, and settles on the creation of a public bank in Oregon as a good and doable first step. He called Tim Cates, who had already investigated some with the Oregon Secretary of State’s office. There are hurdles to get past, but they’re working on it. As Mr. Cates …
